Lesson 3: Establish Your Safelist Network Accounts
<<< In Lesson 2, I explained how your primary activity to build your business is sending emails daily via safelist networks. In this lesson, I recommend the best safelists with which to establish your accounts, how to configure your accounts so your primary email inbox isn’t inundated with safelist messages, and the general mechanics of safelist accounts and how to navigate them.
***Note***
In this lesson you will start seeing subsections titled “Action Steps”. To make this guide as useful to you as possible, Action Step sections will show you exactly how to make a component of our free web traffic system work. The intent is to make it as simple as possible for you to follow steps and build your business. It is vital you perform action steps as they are documented to maximize your effects.
As many people enter the world of Internet advertising, they will quickly get the idea that email is an awesome tool by which to contact people, and they're right! Though, as most of us know, there are very specific rules to sending email, especially when you send mass email. And to send mass, unsolicited email from your personal email address to a list of people who didn't ask for it is the quickest way to get your email address quickly blacklisted and rendered worthless.
This is the whole reason behind safelist networks. Safelist networks allow you to do exactly what I described above without the negative consequences described. Safelists also allow you to manage your interaction with other senders to an acceptable level to meet your goals.
The key to using safelists is to cast a wide net. Users who experience effective use of safelists commonly use many of them, blasting their email message daily to 1,000s of safelists members daily. This multi-safelist tactic has the advantage of exposing common members between these safelists to your message multiple times in a short period. This tactic alone is proven to increase conversions, or viewers taking the action you want them to take. The key is to be persistent. You should have several safelists on which you send email daily. This is the only way to ensure a wide enough cast of your 'net' to achieve the results for which you're looking.
Within the World Branch GDI team, we recommend a specific set of safelists with which to start. This list is by-far not the only safelists available to join on the Internet; there are literally thousands of safelist networks available to join and you can join as many as you can personally handle. Regardless, we recommend starting with the following list of networks for three primary reasons:
- Each of these networks are owned and operated by the same web developer. While they are not identical, they are very similar in structure and very user-friendly. They are easy to employ as someone who is new to email advertising.
- Each of these safelists have an integrated downline, essentially providing you ‘more products to put on the shelves of your business’. I will further explain this concept in the section titled Integrated Downlines.
- Every sixth day of each month, you will be provided a promotion code (via email) to earn a bonus 500 mailing credits just for being a member and viewing 25 other member emails as you will anyway to earn mailing credits for yourself. 500 free credits give you a free day of sending emails on each network without any extra effort on your part.
The estimate of members on each network (provided above each advertising banner below) are equivalent to the quantity of daily emails each network will allow you to send. When you send the maximum quantity of daily emails allowed from each of these safelist networks every day, you will easily earn over 1,000 web visitors to your unique team promotion link and qualify for new members in your downline every week. You may review this concept in Lesson 2: Collective Advertising section earlier in this guide.
I have also included some sample advertising banners that are free and inclusive to your account when you activate your account with each network. Others are available; I just wanted to provide you an example of some of the tools you get with becoming a member of safelists here.
The Important Difference Between Safelists and Traffic Exchanges
Earlier in this guide, I described exactly what safelists are, how, and why they work. There is another type of network that offers plenty of free traffic referred to as traffic exchanges. While traffic exchanges offer plenty of free traffic, traffic exchange traffic is far lower quality than the web traffic you will receive from safelists. Here is why:
Traffic exchanges allow you to submit a link to a web property you want to promote. Your link is entered into an automated rotator of other members’ web properties to allow members to earn credits by viewing your web property for 5 – 10 seconds then continue to the next. There is no requirement for the member earning credits to interact or even look at your web property. The member can click through members’ web properties without even looking at your web property.
Safelists emails work far differently. First, by default, safelists send your email directly to member primary inboxes. This means you get the opportunity to make a first impression on other members with a subject line. Then, member must look at your email message to find the link to earn credits on the safelist network. As they are required to look at your subject line and email message body, you get the opportunity to catch their attention. THEN, they must click on your link and visit your web property. Of course, there is no requirement for them to create a conversion for your campaign (or take the action you want them to take), but it requires their exposure to your message BEFORE they must interact with your web property. Believe it or not, this sequence of events and requirements creates results for your business!
The difference in the results between safelists and traffic exchanges is so drastic, the World Branch network does not count traffic exchange traffic to qualify for automatically assigned new downline members in your GDI downline. If, as a member of the World Branch GDI team, you use traffic exchanges to get your weekly 1,000 web visits to your unique team promotion link, those clicks WILL NOT COUNT. They just are not valuable. Don’t use traffic exchanges.
Action Step: Establish your safelist network accounts
***Very Important***
If you are a member of the World Branch GDI team, consult with your team leader before joining the safelist networks below. It is imperative that you join your team leader’s downline; this is one of the basic promises of this business. DO NOT join the safelist networks using the advertising banners below without first asking your team leader for their affiliate links.
If you are not a member of the World Branch GDI team, consider joining us now. Otherwise, join each safelist network by clicking each banner and select the ‘join’ link or ‘sign up’ button you find on each site:
Adchiever: ~900 members

Build My Downlines: ~550 members

Downline Maxx: ~300 members

List Jumper: ~780 members

List Surfing: ~800 members

Viral Nugget: ~490

Configure Safelist Accounts
Just as with any other online account you create, there are specific configurations you will need to make to ensure it meets your needs. Don’t skip this step as it is significantly important to make your accounts functional and efficient to meet your business needs.
Action Step: Where to receive member emails
***This step is obviously a recommendation and up to personal preference. I feature it here in the guide because overwhelming emails from safelist networks to primary email inboxes is one of the most common grievances to our system. This is an option to mitigate that problem.***
As described in Lesson 2: Your Primary Activity: Sending Mass Emails, members of each safelist can receive hundreds of emails daily from other members sending their daily emails. By default, all safelists will automatically send member emails to your primary registered email inbox. As you can imagine, becoming member of all these safelists with your primary email address can quickly become a cumbersome and inundating venture as you start to receive emails from other safelist members on all your accounts. Don’t worry, there is a very simple and manageable solution to this problem built into all these safelists.
All recommended safelists above provide you an on-site ‘member inbox’. In other words, instead of member emails from each of the safelists filling your primary inbox daily, you can direct all member emails you receive from the safelists to be sent and stored to a member inbox hosted on the website platform. Once you select this setting, no emails will be sent to your primary registered email address; you will now receive all member emails in the member area of your safelist accounts. Correcting this simple default setting will save you significant amount of time in operating your business.
***Note***
As I provide examples of how to conduct action steps, you may find I use images from a mix of the various recommended safelists. Don’t let this confuse you. I do this to emphasize the point that all these safelists generally work the same, simply with different names and themes.

- Once logged into your account, click ‘Account Details’ on the left sidebar. (This step may vary between safelist networks.)

2. Click on ‘Account Settings’.

3. Find ‘Email preferences’ and set the selection to ‘Member Inbox Only’.

4. Don’t forget to save your changes once you have modified this setting.

5. Once you have done this, you now will receive all member emails in your ‘Email Ad Inbox’ or ‘Member Inbox’, depending on the network.

6. You will now be able to receive all member emails to your on-site email ad inbox instead of your primary email inbox.
Integrated Downlines
In addition to allowing you to send hundreds of emails daily, all these safelist networks provide built-in downline builders. The downline builder 'cross-promotes' your membership across all accounts by allowing you to register your account on each network with each of the others. This means when a new member registers with your affiliate link on any one of these safelists, then goes to join another one of these safelists, they will automatically join in your downline on the other networks.
Why build downlines in safelists?
- It’s automatic: As you build your business with the World Branch GDI team, this guide is the de-facto instruction to which every new member is driven to build their business. Simply by building your GDI downline with World Branch, you will quickly and easily build robust downlines in each of these safelist networks as well.
- Free mailing credits: When new members join your downlines in these networks, you are credited for their referral with free mailing credits. The number of credits differ by account, but free credits mean more free emails you can send on each network without any extra effort on your part. Plus, most of these networks have monthly referral contests, meaning that if you refer the most new accounts each month, you are also awarded with extra bonus mailing credits beyond your basic referral bonus. Winning these contests is easier than imagined. I have won these contests several times. You just need to put in the effort.
- To expand your business’ sources of revenue: Each of these networks offer paid advertising tools to which new members may find value in and purchase to build their own businesses now or later in the future. Once an account is registered in your downline, that account is always in your downline. You will receive paid commissions on all purchases any member of your downline makes now or later in the future.
Though, this process doesn’t occur automatically; you must register each account on the downline builders of all the other networks to take advantage of this capability. In other words, you must ‘tell’ each network that you have an account on each other network with each individual network. This also allows you to protect and expand your business across all networks as new members join your downlines.
Action Step: Register your affiliate codes in each networks’ Downline Builder
- Once logged into your account, select 'Downline builder' usually found under the 'Affiliate' or 'Earn' section of your member's area.
2. Copy your affiliate referral code from each safelist network. You will find your five-digit affiliate referral code at the end of your affiliate link.
3. Find the ‘Affiliate’ or ‘Earn’ section of your member’s area. Find and select the ‘Downline Builder’ section.
4. Here you will find listed several safelist networks for which you can add your referral codes. Enter your affiliate referral code for each respective network in each downline builder in the appropriate area.
Repeat this process for each safelist network, adding all your other networks' referral codes to each.
Congratulations! You have secured your future downlines in each safelist.
Branding
People buy things they know, they like, and they trust. In case you are unfamiliar with the concept, branding is the promotion of a particular product or company by means of advertising with distinct design. ‘Distinct design’ is the key to branding. Think about the household consumables you purchase on a regular basis for you and your family to use within your home. There is likely at least one brand that you have loyalty to; you will always purchase that brand because you know what to expect from it, you like what you get from it, and you trust the products they provide. When you go to the store to purchase your household consumables products, you are always looking out for that brand you know, like, and trust for the reasons mentioned above. Branding is just as important, if not more important, with Internet advertising.
I am introducing branding to you now as safelists provide you ample opportunity to brand yourself; you have the chance now to ‘establish a personality’ across these networks. As you start using safelists, you will be sending messages daily. Built into your daily emails will be your brand; for now, that will be an image or likeness that represents you. Later in this guide, I will share other free resources to get your message broad exposure beyond just sending safelist emails. As with your daily emails, your image or likeness you want to represent you will be included in these methods. The point is you need to establish your brand now so when individuals come across your future messages, you will have already established familiarity, also known as the know, like, and trust I mentioned earlier. When people know, like, and trust you, they are exceedingly more likely to follow you or buy something from you. The earlier you start branding yourself across these networks, the sooner you will realize results in your business.
For example, I use my company name “World Branch” to brand our team business presence on the Internet. I do this because I don’t plan on using the company for anything else than to help others advertise on the Internet. For World Branch, I have a couple of logos I use; if you are reading this guide, you have already seen them:

I created these as a young business student years ago as a project in my marketing course. I didn’t have any skill or training for making logos; I made these using word art and shapes in Microsoft PowerPoint. Later, as I got interested in the Internet and establish a web presence or web properties (which you have the ability to do with your monthly GDI subscription) I created my first web property of the www.WorldBranch.com domain. If you visit my website, you will see I integrated these logos, my web property name, and my message together into one coherent effort.
Since, I have established presence on Facebook by creating a Facebook page and a Facebook group. With this guide, I will further solidify the coherent and consistent World Branch mission and message that World Branch is “your home for free Internet advertising.” Beyond this, the possibilities are endless. Now, anywhere you hear or see World Branch, you are familiar with what I am doing; you know how to recognize it by my logos above. I aim to gain trust through repeat messaging through our team blog, putting on display my regular presence and our consistent collective advertising activity. Lastly, I strive to make my language and interaction with others not yet member to the World Branch – GDI team ‘likeable’.
Lastly, branding is one of the most important actions you will take to establish your business. It is important to understand what you are learning now in these first few lessons are the basic building blocks of a business you will develop and maintain for years to come. Your branding doesn’t need to be perfect, but you need to get in the habit of establishing it now as it takes time to establish a brand.
Don’t let my example intimidate you. This is something I have developed over many years. You don’t need a company, a website, or well-designed logos to start establishing your brand. You can do that over time. For now, you only need to establish an image and a name. It is perfectly acceptable to use an image of yourself and your own name if you have no problem representing your own brand. The advantages of using a nice picture of you smiling (as you will see I do in a lot of my branding as well) is that it shows people that you are real person, just like them. The smile increases the ‘likeability’ factor and, as they see your name and image on every message you publish over time, you will begin to establish trust.
Action Step: Establish your brand image on safelists
- Once logged into your account, go to (1.) Dashboard then (2.) Profile. (This step may vary between safelist networks.)
You should arrive at a screen that looks like this:

2. Create a Gravatar email address. There are several advantages to creating a Gravatar image, the most prominent being that of owning your branding image. When you change your Gravatar image in your Gravatar account, your new image is image is immediately published to all accounts that pull your image from Gravatar.com. (These steps are notably backward.) 2. Click the link to Gravatars.com. Follow the instruction to upload your own Gravatar (image). This is the image you will initially use to create your own branding image across all safelist networks. 1. Once you have created your Gravatar, return to this page, enter your (1.) Gravatar email account and enter your account email address.
3. Repeat this step for each of your safelist accounts.
Lesson Summary
In this lesson, I recommend the best safelists with which to establish your accounts, how to prevent your primary email inbox from being inundated with safelist member emails and introduced various tools you will use to build your business over time. At this early point in establishing your business, it is important to think about the long-term applications of your business. If you work to begin establishing your integrated downlines and your personal brand now, these simple actions will pay your business massive dividends as your business becomes established.
